Managed work placements

Ever wondered what it takes to keep our forests and communities safe from bushfire? Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) is offering students aged 15+ a rare, behind-the-scenes look through five-day work experience placements across the Hume region in Terms 2 and 3.
Students will work alongside Victoria's frontline forest firefighters on real projects — from preparing fuel-reduction burns and ecological field work to managing forest recreation sites and community engagement. With 12 work centres across north-east Victoria, including Corryong, Tallangatta, Mitta Valley, Ovens and Bright, there's an opportunity close to home.
Places are limited (up to two students per work centre), and applications take time to organise — so don't wait. Interested students should speak with their school's careers advisor, then complete the online EOI at least six to eight weeks ahead to get the paperwork underway.

Curious about a career in local government or the creative and cultural sector? Through NELLEN, students can access managed work experience placements with the City of Wodonga — including unique opportunities at Hyphen – Wodonga Library Gallery.
At the City of Wodonga, students can explore the huge variety of careers that keep a city running — from community services and events to parks, planning and customer service. Hyphen, part of the City of Wodonga, offers its own distinctive placements in the world of libraries, galleries, exhibitions and community programs — a rare chance to work alongside professionals in one of regional Victoria's most striking cultural spaces.
Places are strictly limited. Students and their careers advisors are required to submit an Expression of Interest below to be considered.
Because these are managed placements, NELLEN coordinates the process from there — matching students to opportunities, handling paperwork with the host, and supporting schools and families along the way.
