Term 3 Opportunities

Expressions of Interest will be received between Friday, 29 May 2pm and Friday, 9 June 3pm 

You will be informed of the outcome within 14 Days of the closure date via the email provided in the EOI.

You must be above the age of 15 to apply.

Opportunities are available to Secondary Schools located in Alpine, Indigo & Towong Shires and the City of Wodonga.

Please ensure you have spoken to you Careers/Placement Coordinator before applying. 

Interviews will be held with applicants whose EOI meet the criteria set by the City of Wodonga. It’s a consideration of your application that you will be available to complete an interview for approximately 15 minutes during the final week of termCouncil will contact you to confirm a time to complete an interview if you are successful with your application .

You will need to organise own transport to attend the scheduled interview.


Current Opportunities

#1 Gardening Assistant – Wodonga Depot

  • Duration: One week placement
  • Starting date: Term 3 (date to be negotiated at interview)
  • Normal working hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm (hours needed for placement can be discussed at interview)
  • Work location: 1 Kendall Street, Wodonga
  • Tasks: Assist with the delivery of all relevant activities, including but not limited to, parks, gardens, labour and plant resources
  • Skills obtained:
    – Team work
    – Interpersonal Skills
    – Time management
  • Student requirements:
    – White card
    – Safety awareness
    – Excellent communication
  • Dress requirements: Steel Capped Boots, Long Pants, Long Sleeve Fluro Shirt.
  • Notes: Inclusive of all genders

#2 IT Helpdesk Officer – Council Office

  • Duration: One week placement
  • Starting date: Term 3 (date to be negotiated at interview)
  • Normal working hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm (hours needed for placement can be discussed at interview)
  • Work location: 104 Hovell Street, Wodonga
  • Tasks: This position will assist the information technology officer with help desk support with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, timeliness and team contribution.

#3 Bonegilla Migrant Experience Visitor Services Officer – Bonegilla Migrant Experience

  • Duration: Five day placement over two weeks (three days one week, two days following week)
  • Starting date: Term 3 (date to be negotiated at interview)
  • Normal working hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday only (hours needed for placement can be discussed at interview)
  • Work location: 82 Bonegilla Road, Bonegilla
  • Tasks: Delivering efficient and effective visitor information services at Bonegilla Migrant Experience, including welcoming visitors and the timely resolution of internal and external visitor and customer service enquiries.
  • Skills obtained:

  • Student requirements:
    – Safety awareness

  • Dress requirements: Smart Casual/Professional attire.

#4 Kindergarten Educator – Felltimber Preschool or Baranduda Preschool

  • Duration: One week block
  • Starting date: Term 3 (date to be negotiated at interview)
  • Normal working hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm (hours needed for placement can be discussed at interview)
  • Work location:
    – Felltimber Kinder: Cnr Felltimber Creek Rd/Melrose Drive, Wodonga
    – Baranduda Kinder: 3 Sage Ct, Baranduda
  • Tasks:
    -Provide care for children aged 3-5 years
    -Plan and implement early learning educational programs
    -Organise games and recreational activities
    -Prepare food and snacks
    -Monitor kids hygiene
    -Encourage interpersonal skills through mediating social interactions.
  • Skills obtained:
