NELLEN AGM 2024

Reflecting on an Inspiring 2024 AGM at NELLEN

On Tuesday, NELLEN hosted our much-anticipated Annual General Meeting at La Maison, Wodonga. The highlight was an insightful panel discussion facilitated by Tammy Atkins, featuring industry leaders who shared their diverse experiences and the importance of vocational pathways.

Our panellists, Melinda Carlyle, Adam Wiseman, and Natalie Ajay, provided candid insights into the vocational challenges and opportunities within their sectors. They discussed the critical role of exposure to diverse career paths for young people, emphasizing that “You can’t be what you can’t see.”

Key takeaways included:

  • the need for greater collaboration across the ‘pathways’ sector to meet the unique challenges faced by today’s youth;
  • the pivotal role mentors play in shaping careers;
  • being ‘a good human’ is a valid goal for a young person;
  • staying open to possibilities as they arise is important and useful;
  • supportive initiatives are essential for empowering young people with the confidence and skills required for success.

This AGM has set a robust tone for the future, emphasising innovation, creativity, and the importance of tangible support for our young people. Let’s continue to bridge gaps and create meaningful pathways together!
